Former Rap artist Mase has stirred up controversy in the music arena. After leaving the rap scene at the height of his success due to claiming a newly found relationship with Christ, he has come back.  He had left the hip hop industry to become a church pastor in Atlanta while speaking all throughout the country and stated that he would be too tempted to return to his old lifestyle if staying in the rap game, but is back doing music again.  Mase returned last year with his CD filled with positive messages and prosperity-gospel teachings. However, he has recently switched labels and returned to his "Murda Mase" persona and recently was quoted calling others names. This has left fans in shock and others calling Mase a hypocrite.

Even though they have released three independent albums, Christian rock band The Myriad is probably new to a majority of Christian music fans. The band was just signed to Floodgate Records last year and has a new album out with the message that everyone should trust Christ.

The Myriad's guitarist and keyboardist Steven Tracy recently sat down with CCM Magazine to talk about the title for the band's new project, "You Can't Trust A Ladder". "The title of the album is a metaphor for a recurring theme about avoiding shortcuts and really embracing the process," Tracy said. "With current culture being offered so many forms of anesthetics -- be it medication or television -- the idea is that the way out is 'around' not 'through.' [But going through it] is where true growth and life exists."
Tracy told CCM about the band's days of doing it all themselves before getting Floodgate on board to give them a hand. "Yeah, for the better part of three years we did all of our own booking, publicity, recording and management," he explained. "We're happy to have handed it off to those more capable than ourselves." "It has left us with the proper time for the music which, ultimately, is what we care most about. We've already started writing for the next record," he told CCM. Interviewer Paul Coleman asked Tracy about the band's signature sound. "I'd say that a large part of our sound has come from the natural friction that comes with putting five strong personalities in the same room," the guitarist said. "Someone typically comes up with a starting point, whether it's a lyrical idea, chord progression or melody. From there we usually end up writing and rewriting the song over and over until some 'chill bumps' happen." "Sometimes it's quick, and other times it's more laborious. Either way, it's a remarkable thing when it hits; we all know it, and then we just fine-tune it from there," he added.

Sara Acker, lead singer of the new Christian rock band Inhabited, recently talked with BreatheCast about her band and their motivations for signing. She says, "nothing compares to seeing lives changed with the message of Jesus Christ through awesome music". When she was asked to explain the significance of the name Inhabited, Acker told BreatheCast, "The meaning of Inhabited is two fold. Psalms 22:3 says God inhabits the praises of His people! We always want to put on a good show, but more than that, we want our music to usher in God's peace!". "Corinthians 6:19 says we are inhabited by the "Holy Spirit"! We are indwelt by the "spirit of truth"(John 14:17) and want our lives to reflect that! We want to honor God, not only on stage, but with our lives. We are not our own," Acker adds.

On their debut CD, The Revolution, the band sings a song about a runaway and the abuse that she faces. Acker had the privilege of meeting her recently. "While we were on the Todd Agnew tour, I finally got the chance to meet the girl who inspired me to write "One More Night," she explained. "It was far more than just an encounter but an amazing moment to come face to face with someone whose story has played such a great role in the ministry of Inhabited." Acker told BreatheCast that touring is draining, but worth every minute. "Going on tour was definitely draining at times, but every night you pour yourself out, and give it your all. Even though you may be tired, you get a sense of peace and satisfaction knowing that you are where you are supposed to be. As I sort of already mentioned, one of the coolest parts about the tour was getting a chance to meet a lot of the teens I had kept in contact with for years. That was one of the greatest blessing to me," she said. Acker said a new band web site www.jointherevolution.org will go live on the Internet soon. Stop by and check it out! www.InhabitedTheBand.com

They aren't really doing advertising for this because they want their hardcore fans to grab them up.  P.O.D.'s next project and sixth studio release Testify was also recently finished and now they are deciding on which songs will make the final cut for the January 24th release. The first song off of the upcoming release is "Goodbye For Now".  The guys will be doing a promo tour called "Fall Brawl" for the album during the months of November and December with label mates Stained.  In addition, P.O.D. will be doing a select group of headlining dates and are working on a new website. Here's a great tidbit from Subseven... If you ever have to get out for a break during traveling, don't leave your cell phone in the car/van. The reason why? Well, the guys recently drove 15 hours to play 15 minutes for the Christian radio industry in Columbus, OH and 100 miles into their return trip, they realized they had forgotten something at a truck stop. A little while later, they received a call from the local sheriff with an urgent message that they had left bandmember Shaun at the truckstop. He had left all of his stuff, along with his cellphone in the van, so he had no way to call the other guys. Floodgate Records announces the signing of Pennsylvania band Transition. The band, based out of Pittsburgh has been working hard for the last two years building a solid fanbase throughout the country, while the majority of the members were still in high school. Their self-made CD Sunset Wakeup was released in 2004 and sold over 4,000 copies on its own. One year later the band independently recorded a brand new self-titled EP, which has already moved over 3,000 copies in just two months. Lead singer Dan Smyers stated, "Floodgate seemed to be the right choice because the label cared about us just as much as we cared about them. Success comes much easier when both sides are working hard together to achieve the same goals." The label heard of Transition after hearing rave reviews from other bands and checking them out on purevolume.com "Right away we were blown away by Transition," states Josh Ragsdale, A&R for Floodgate Records. "They have an amazing live show and they are one of the hardest working bands I have ever seen. From the first time we saw them, we knew that they should be a part of the Floodgate family. Look for big things to come from this Pennsylvania band." Dan continued, "I am happy to be on Floodgate because I feel like I am part of a family."  Transition recently played to huge crowds at numerous Warped Tour dates across New England and finished up the summer touring down the Atlantic coast. Labelmates include Forever Changed, Mourning September, The Myriad, Cool Hand Luke and Number One Gun.  For more information, check out www.transitionmusic.net or www.floodgaterecords.com

Hey Kutless fans, they have asked some great artists to tour with them this fall. Disciple, Krystal Meyers and KJ-52 will be joining the guys. They recently put "Special Guests Packages" on ebay for the 25 dates of the Strong Tower Tour, which included 4 tickets to the concert, VIP/guest passes to meet the artists, the latest cd from each artist and an autographed poster from each artist on the tour. The money went to go to those affected by Hurricane Katrina. The band also asks for your continued prayers for everyone affected by this horrible tragedy.

In addition, they have also recently announced a new endorsement deal with Advocare, a leading provider of fitness and energy supplements. The band says, "Playing show after show can be tiring and we don't always have the time to eat all our veggies. Advocare products like 'Spark' give[s] us that extra kick of energy we need before a concert, plus we get all our vitamins and nutrients. Can Nothing Is Sound top The Beautiful Letdown? Switchfoot's breakthrough album The Beautiful Letdown shattered multi-platinum status, gave them five #1 songs on Christian radio in addition to two on mainstream radio and led the guys to being named this year's Artist of the Year at the GMA Music Awards in April. Nothing Is Sound is their fifth studio record and was released on September 13th. As with previous albums, most of their songs are birthed out of questions that frontman Jon Foreman has like "What is true happiness?" and many others. This album was recorded in a not so standard fashion. Jon, Tim, Chad, Jerome and Andrew of Switchfoot were so busy on the road, that they didn't have time to take a break and make a record. So, they had to set up their instruments and recording equipment in the dressing room every night to lay down tracks in between soundchecks and interviews. "That was one advantage we had on this record," say Foreman. "We'd been playing some of the songs, like "Daisy" and "Politicians," off and on for a while. We got to road test them, check the tires, and switch things up before we ever pressed the 'record' button. The audiences determined which songs were selected and how they turned out. The trickiest part is trying to capture what we do live and bottle it up into the 1's and 0's on a CD. It helped to play these songs live, feel that energy, and say, 'Okay, this is what we have to match.'" They finally did get into a proper studio and produced the album themselves with the help of Letdown producer John Fields as well as to lay down drums and a few other parts. Gotee Records has a new artist! StorySide:B has recently been signed and is already gaining momentum with their song "Miracle". The band is led by front man and guitarist Lucio "Lu" Rubino and includes band members Jordan Mohilowski on drums, Matt Lande (guitar/background vocals), Ron McClelland (bass/piano), and Preston Pohl (guitar/vocals). The guys will reveal their self-titled major label debut album on Gotee Records this December 26th. The album includes 11 songs, most of which were written by band founders Lu Rubino and Jordan Mohilowski. The debut album was mixed in full by J.R. McNeely (Jeremy Camp, Relient K) and produced by Rubino. Another tidbit on the band is that they took home a 2nd place finish in the 2003 Exalting Him national talent search. The band was over 1,400 contestants in the nation's largest Christian music talent contest, which aired internationally on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. The band then just consisted of founders Rubino and Mohilowski, which also took home honors as the 2003 winner of band division for the Exalting Him contest. God has really been using Jeremy Camp's ministry and many people have come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ for the first time. Recently, around 4,000 people came forward at a Harvest Crusade in California. In other news, he has a song featured on Music Inspired By: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, which is the soundtrack to the upcoming film of an adaptation to C.S. Lewis' best-selling classic. The song he wrote is called "Open Up Your Eyes" and is scheduled to be shipped to radio soon. Jeremy asks for your prayers as he is trying to balance family life with being on the road. New Orleans natives MuteMath thankfully has escaped the devastation in their hometown due to Hurricane Katrina. "...[it] has been extremely emotional for all of us, but thankfully we're all fine," lead singer and keyboardist Paul Meany said in a band newsletter recently. "If you've been watching the news, I can tell you we're definitely some of the fortunate ones. We've had a place to reside with our immediate families until it's safe to return home. To all of you who have been emailing or calling us to find out how we're doing, thank you for caring. The reaction and response of so many people on the outside of this disaster has been amazing. Thanks to all of you who have opened up your homes or businesses to the evacuees and those of you who are putting any of your resources into a relief effort."
